Course Description: This course is designed to instruct students on several health areas. We will focus on topics from the approved high school curriculum. The areas of focus include:
Decision Making Strategies to Support a Healthy Active Lifestyle
Male/Female Reproductive System
Reproductive Health
Sexual Responsibility
Dating/Violence
Abstinence and Contraception
Pregnancy and Childbirth
Parenting
Pregnancy Termination
Teenage Pregnancy
HIV/STD’s/AIDS
All handouts and notes must be kept in a separate notebook and folder for this class.
Methods of Evaluation:
Quiz/Project 50%
Class work/Homework 20%
Participation 10%
Quarterly 20%
Please be on time to class. Three lates = detention.
If you are absent it is your responsibility to ask for missed work. You should pair up with another classmate to get notes from the days you were out. The only time late work will be accepted is if you are absent. In the event you are absent on a quiz day, be prepared to take the quiz the day you return to school.
Class work that is not completed during class becomes homework.
Please do not cheat, it is embarrassing to you and your family.
Please come prepared with something to write with as well as write on.
Please respect the textbook. Do not write, tear, draw in, bend, or throw it.
Please keep phones, Ipods, hats and other electronic devices in a place where they are not disrupting the class.
Be organized, take notes, and feel free to ask questions at any time.
Remember to respect those around you and think before you speak.
